The most common use for a venous ultrasound exam is to search for blood clots in the leg, called deep venous thrombosis (DVT). These clots often happen to those who are more inactive and sitting for a long time.

Another use for this imaging is to look for leaky vein valves in those who are standing for too long which can cause leg swelling.
